I discovered this brand via ASOS when i noticed a few pieces were accumulating in my 'saved items' and i have to share the pictures from their SS12 Campaign, which i later realised i have been pinning and a few i used in my last post 'NEON'.
Here is my favourite piece from there current collection-
The Leather and Jute Baseball Jacket
Only a month till i get away on holiday and soak up the Andalucian sun shine. I am hoping to get a few snaps and get some outfit posts up, i think the time has finally come!
These will be courtesy of my boyfriend's photography skills.
My summer wardrobe is looking a little dismal but as usual i have very large baskets on H&M, ASOS and Zara but very little funds to continue to the checkout, at the moment i can only dream of the items materializing. My money is being set aside for my Summer of three months spent in London where i will be interning and keeping you all up to date with 'blogging the life of an intern' as i progress through my three months of making tea (I hope not).
'London Based Tee Company. Quality T-shirts With Unique Designs.'
I love finding a new brand, with a difference. These T-shirts are definitely going to take off and have some wicked designs, introduced to me via a friend, I managed to get an interview with the guy behind the new brand, Tom Pollit...
1. How did you get started in fashion design?
After looking around for t-shirts to wear myself, i thought there isn't anything that is british with unique designs which have a sense of being individual, so i gave it a go myself one weekend and thats how the i am floyd brand was started.
2.What do you enjoy most about your job?
Freedom to use and fabrics and designs i like, I literally go into small local fabric stores in london with a totally open mind, then i pick out what i think might work well on t-shirts, some work some don't, but when you do make something that looks cool and you see someone wearing it, its a pretty good feeling knowing you designed that look.
3. What do you hope to achieve with 'I am Floyd'?
Hopefully i can keep it fresh and get a good reputation for having individual designs, and people love wearing them!
4. How do you get inspiration for your label?
The inspiration comes from seeing handmade things, anything from clothes to coffee tables. i see what trends are around right now, and i try and see if i can find another angle to use materials that people might not think would go on t-shirts, designs that you want to touch and feel, recently i tried out a velvet pocket. people can't stop touching it!
5.What excites you right now in fashion?
Colours and custom-made clothing. i like a one off and something that is different. summer is on the way and all sorts of bright things are coming out really soon. 6. In 10 years where do you see yourself?
Hopefully with a global brand - having employed all my friends and we just work on the freshest designs and having fun doing it. 7. How do you keep yourself busy other than working on your label?
I'm big into live music and being based in london i get to see gigs, comedy and also some football now and again!
8. What music are you into?
Anything and everything - my current playlist i have on whilst making the i am floyd tee's has otis reading/ m83/ active child/ gregory porter, so it changes all the time.
9. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why? NYC! i went there over new year and its just insanely cool, the meat packing district is epic, i wanted to move in right there and then because it just has a something that i can't put my finger on, just has something extra. 10. Describe yourself in three words....
