“It all starts in one city” By Ellie Collister
There isn’t a signature style in Manchester, it is all about expression and individuality, the city is home to some of the most coveted vintage boutiques in the north (Afflecks, Retro Rehab, POP) along with essential high street stores (American Apparel, Urban Outfitters, Zara and a very large Topshop) and the ability to purchase luxury designer items (Flannels, Vivienne Westwood, Burberry) and those are only mentioning a few. It is the fusion of these stores that gears Manchester in a stylish direction but of course it is the people that call this city home who are the trend-setters.
I can’t talk about fashion in Manchester without mentioning both infamous department stores Selfridges Exchange Square and Harvey Nichols, which hosts everything a fashionista needs, from a nail bar to a spritz of perfume on the way through to the vast variety of designer and contemporary items, that keep the city on-trend and fashion forward.
Manchester Fashion Week is all about showcasing established and new talent on the fashion scene, high street brands such as All Saints and River Island were amongst local, up and coming designers at the 2012 event. missguided.co.uk who were the main sponsors of last year’s event hosted a glamorous catwalk show, which was a display of fresh, on-trend items at affordable prices. The 2013 event is going to bigger, more entertaining and involves even more designers.
There are so many ways to become involved in this fabulous event; as a designer, as press, as a sponsor, or just as you, please email- email@example.com for any more details on how you can get involved.
